Managing Director
Salary: Circa £90,000 Salary with Benefits
Our client specialise in maximising the service performance of process plant and equipment, used to convey, store or process bulk solid materials within utilities, primary manufacturing and process industries. The company’s service offering consists of a package of design, manufacture, protection and site installation of process plant equipment. Performing to international standards of best practice with regard to quality control, environmental and health & safety, the company align themselves to the expectations of their valued customer base of internationally recognised OEMs, EPC contractors and end users, many of whom are PLC’s operating on a global basis.
The Requirement
The company is looking to appoint a high calibre commercially focused Managing Director. The owner is putting in place an exciting “buy & build” strategy for the next 7 years, hence it’s a time of real growth and a great opportunity for someone to be part of leading this positive change.
Core Role & Responsibilities
Key elements of this leadership role will entail:
- Working closely with the Owner on the growth strategy and helping to successfully implement this
- Improving, enhancing and modernising the company’s corporate structure, processes and procedures
- Involvement with the new potential site, with everything from set up through to getting it operational
- Being hands on, where you will have involvement with a wide variety of day to day business matters from Operations, Sales and Finance, through to HR and Production
- Being highly visible each week, in the office or travelling to see clients and new prospective customers
Expertise & Fit
- Proven operational leadership of ideally similar size SME’s or larger that have grown
- A commercially focused person, who is currently someone that is likely to be a Managing Director, Operations Director or similar
- Director level career experience to date within industrial engineering companies, manufacturing or services – ideally currently based in the West Midlands
- Someone that understands manufacturing, with the ability for example to talk knowledgably and credibly about welding and site inspections with staff and customers
- A candidate that has been exposed to a broad range of areas within their career to date, such as finance, operations & sales
- Culturally, a strong fit with the size of business and nature of the environment
- A Managing Director that will roll their sleeves up, be hands, visible and invested in the future as this strategy is successfully adopted and implemented
- A “blue sky thinker”, that is positive, driven and able to work well with the Owner
- Excellent all round communication skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from all members of staff through to key customers
