Health & Safety Director – (‘Building Services’ Sector)
Salary: £70,000 Base + Car Allowance, Bonus etc


The Company & Requirement:

Our client is a Midlands based leading mechanical and electrical engineering business, ranked as one of the UK’s ‘Top 50 building services contractors’. There is a strategic requirement to recruit an experience H&S professional into the role of Health & Safety Director, that will also include involvement with environmental and quality matters for the business.

Main Job Purpose:

Reporting into the company’s Group CEO, the H&S Director will have the following key roles:

  • To direct, improve and control the Group Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards – this will include developing and directing the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the company complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Group Chief Executive, Members of the Board and other staff on all matters of relevant legal compliance. The Director will keep people aware of developments within the industry and ensure appropriate policies are developed and adhered to in regards to meeting the company’s mission and objectives whilst complying with all relevant statutory regulations.

Core Expertise Needed:

  • A proven record of senior level Health & Safety management, to include involvement with environment and quality matters.
  • A must have is a track record of having worked for a contracting business which is ideally building services (M&E) focused.
  • It’s really important that candidates have experience on the electrical side of legislative compliance and regulations when it comes to H&S.
  • The assumption is that suitable candidates will have experience of IS9001 and other relevant ISO certifications.
  • Experience of overseeing annual H&S budgets and managing teams
