Sales Director – Healthcare
Salary: Competitive salary, bonus and package


Our client is a leading UK-based international supplier of branded and own label medical products and consumables to all areas of the healthcare market. From basic first aid kits and defibrillators to crisis response kits and ambulance equipment, they are committed to designing, engineering and delivering quality products and medical solutions based on their advanced industry knowledge.

Our client is looking for an ambitious and successful Sales Director to take over the day to day running of the sales function. With responsibility for the UK and overseas, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s sales strategy, identifying and prioritising new business opportunities and channels and developing existing customers. This role will play a fundamental part in developing future sales growth and providing vision, direction and leadership for the sales team and channel partners both in the UK and internationally.

Furthermore, it is the company’s ambition to grow their international presence and this will be a key part of the Sales Director’s remit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the sales strategy, tactics, sales plans and targets in line with the business objectives
  • Deliver sales both in the UK and internationally
  • Lead, manage and motivate the Sales Team – a National Sales Manager and a Business Development Manager
  • Identify potential growth areas in both the UK and overseas markets, with specific focus on exports (currently responsible for 10% of the company’s revenue total)
  • Deliver sales by developing relationships with partners including distributors and end-line customers
  • Identify new potential partnering opportunities
  • Identify and report on new potential routes to market within new areas 
  • Identify, target and report on business opportunities in target markets
  • Lead the company’s bids/tenders for public sector framework agreements
  • Achieve targets for revenue, profitability and sales growth
  • Forecast accurately to help ensure timely delivery of results
  • Lead the implementation of the sales strategy, set policies, processes and metrics to provide a consistent approach across the business
  • Understand market challenges in the UK and internationally and apply strategic thinking to generate new business opportunities with both new and existing customers
  • Liaise with all parts of the Group and build strong working relationships to ensure that customers remain a priority
  • Attend strategy, P&L, management meetings as necessary

Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • Sales management experience, ideally within a healthcare/medical equipment business or a closely related B2B distribution or retail sector focusing on high volume numbers of products
  • Successfully delivering sales strategy and meeting sales targets
  • Coaching, mentoring and leading high-performance sales professionals
  • Experience of developing new markets/introducing products and ideas into new areas
  • Experience of developing international markets including identifying, implementing and managing successful channel partners/distribution networks

  • High degree of integrity
  • An interest in healthcare would be advantageous
