Contract Director – UK Utilities Contractor
Salary: Circa £90k Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits

The Company

Our client is a major contractor that is one of the UK’s leading utilities services providers. The business works with a broad range of clients across the electricity, gas, water and telecoms sectors. The company helps clients refurbish, renew and maintain their infrastructure and networks. The business works for the majority of the UK’s utility asset owners, undertaking approximately £2m excavations a year.

The Requirement

There is a strategic requirement to recruit a suitably experienced ‘Projects Director’ for the business to lead and run a major programme of gas works in the South West and Wales regions. This is a critical role, with high levels of autonomy and responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities:

• Contribute to developing and delivering the client’s business strategy and rolling plan
  P&L including SHEQ responsibility for an income stream of circa £20m+ per annum
  Ensure SHEQ, Operations/Contract Delivery plans are in place with specific H&S, revenue and profitability targets
  Identification and development of new strategic work streams with the client and partner
  Leadership, coaching and mentoring of a notable size senior management team across the West Country and Wales
  Preparation and delivery of major bid proposals
  Raise standards of customer delivery and levels of customer satisfaction
  Build positive relationships with supply chain partners and improve their services/results
  Improve productivity and enhance resourcing plans

Core Background/Expertise Needed:

• Proven track record of delivering on major projects in the utilities (and/or highly regulated) contracting marketplaces
  Senior leadership experience with contractor businesses over recent years
  Specialist knowledge of gas operations would be a distinct advantage
  Civil engineering, construction or commercial academic background
