Head of Software Engineering
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Benefits

Our client is an established and trusted Software Technology company providing online solutions for Local Government and the Education Sector. The vision has always been to create online software that makes learning and work easier whilst helping to save money.

This is a new position responsible for leading a highly effective software technology team that creates and maintains online solutions. The company are based in very modern offices and have exciting plans for expansion. 

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the chief technology officer, the head of engineering will be a technically inspiring leader who will:

• Be responsible for leading a highly effective software technology team that creates and maintains online solutions for over 10,000 schools and 100,000 school leaders.  
  Influence and grow the current technology for team. 
  Lead all elements of engineering including project management, testing, development and support.
  Outstanding technical skills, identifying and preventing issues before they happen across our technology stacks.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

• You will be degree educated (or equivalent) with ideally a significant experience of leading teams responsible for software delivery.
  The successful candidate will be a technically inspiring leader, who will influence and grow the current technology team.  
  You will be from a SaaS background, comfortable working in an agile environment and will have confidence to share creative and disruptive ideas. 
  You will have hands on coding and testing experience.

Location / Flexible Working

The role will be office based in Plymouth, however a degree of flexible working will be considered. (one day a week from home).
If not currently located near the office, you would need to relocate. Our client would financially support this.
