There is now a need to recruit a highly motivated Vice President of Engineering & New Product Development to execute product develop design initiatives, while liaising with all members of the management team to ensure effective product launches to support the businesses strategy and short- and long-term business plans. This position is responsible for the strategic planning, design, quality assurance and problem resolution of all new product introductions. In addition, it leads Manufacturing Engineering to support operational initiatives and drive cost reduction activities. This position will combine a knowledge of engineering principles and project management techniques to develop comprehensive plans to track and coordinate major projects—from conception through completion--in support of the organisation.

Primary duties and responsibilities
Develops and manages New Product Development Roadmap. Identifies and prioritises issues to be resolved by the product development and manufacturing teams
Serves as the technical interface between the business and all external customers, vendors and partners globally
Provides engineering expertise in the areas of tooling, prints, specifications, product maintenance, raw materials and vended products throughout the organisation
Manages company intellectual property working collaboratively with corporate legal teams
Manages Manufacturing Engineering functions for the division with a goal of driving cost reductions in support of company goals
Manages annual engineering budgets and working closely with Finance to develop and manage annual capital budgets
Overall management of the company’s Test Laboratories
Identify ideas with other functional leaders, employees and customers to create opportunities for new products that enhance quality, drive an improved customer experience and improve profitability margins
Builds, develops and manages engineering team capable of carrying out needed engineering initiatives
Provides direction to the engineering team and ensures staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training, development, goal setting and performance management on a regular basis
Emphasise ethical leadership and decision-making to protect company brand and reputation
Provides input and feedback to key leadership positions about quality and productivity process improvement opportunities
Provides functional leadership with awareness, knowledge and guidance of Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies
Mentors key personnel around technical skill development and career planning
Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
Actively supports company’s commitment to Quality and Safety, and all quality and safety objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in Handbook and follow guidelines regarding safety as outline in the AWAIR, and other safety procedures in accordance to the job
Performs additional duties as assigned by the President
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical related field from an accredited University. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Engineering team leadership role in the Temperature Controlled Pharmaceutical Packaging Industry
Ability to think strategically, prepare short and long-term strategic plans and execute methodically
Must have excellent analytical, organisational and negotiation skills
Must have strong verbal, written, and presentation skills

Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner

Must have strong project management skills and proven track record of utilising project management tools to deliver initiatives on time and according to budget
Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice
Must be able to travel internationally as needed
