Residential Masterplanner / Senior Urban Designer
Salary: Circa £45K + Benefits
The Business
Our client is a design consultancy that operates throughout England and Wales which is owned by a well established Group business . The practice is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Master Planner / Urban Designer to further strengthen the existing design team based, which are based out of their Bedford office.
Role & Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be expected to help maintain and raise the design quality across the Group
- Reporting directly to the Design Directors, the role will include the overseeing & preparation of conceptual urban design and planning work, feasibility studies, master planning, development briefs and design strategies
- Manage and delegate projects in respect of timescales, client/consultant liaison, and meetings with local authority & project teams
- Work from concept design through to detailed design, producing CAD drawings, 2D/3D graphic presentations and design narratives to budget and schedule
- Interaction and communication with clients and consultants during the design phase and at presentations
- Oversee and delegate work to more junior members of staff
Experience Requirements
- Must be passionate about urban design and UK residential architecture
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience working on residential projects in the UK
- Have a recognized urban design qualification
- Can demonstrate good hand drawing ability to produce 1/500 scaled feasibility residential layouts
- Proficient in Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Auto CAD and Sketch Up
- A firm grasp of national and local design codes are essential
- Proven professional experience working with UK house builders on high profile National Master Planning/Urban Design projects
- Ability for researching and analysing project specific data and information to underpin the design proposition
