Salary: Basic salary is up to £40k with the opportunity to earn in excess of £100k

Optical Metrology Services Ltd (OMS) is a specialist technology company that supplies pipe measurement products and services to the global oil and gas industry. At the heart of its success is unique technology which was recognised this year through a second Queen’s Award for Innovation.
Based in Essex, OMS has established itself in its niche market with industry heavyweights including Chevron, BP, Shell and Exxon as well as the equally powerful subsea operators including Subsea7, Technip and Saipem. The company employs 35 people which in turn is supplemented by 30 subcontractors that deliver contracts internationally. Turnover has reached £6M this year and is expected to double by 2017.
Over the last 5 years OMS developed and refined its sales and marketing strategies and the sales team needs to grow to capitalise on the opportunities that are being created.
Joining a small team based in the UK you will be responsible for the prospecting of new contacts and clients within known organisations across all international territories. This will also include regular attendance at Exhibitions and Conferences around the world (North & South America, Middle & Far East, Australasia and Europe.
Sales meetings will be consultative and involve discussing and presenting business-level propositions at Project Manager level (job titles include Welding, Project and Procurement Manager) with each sales process taking potentially up to 18 months.
Exhibitions and Conferences include walking the floors and making and building relationships as well as presenting seminars and formal sales meetings.
The oil and gas market is international so this role will involve extensive international travel.
Your experience will have been gained in a B2B sales role where there has been a strong technical and/or engineering element. Any knowledge of the oil and gas market will be a distinct advantage.
This is a dynamic market where a high level of pro-activity is required and where time almost always means money so problem solving and initiative at a local level is critical. Every aspect of this role requires taking responsibility and making decisions.
OMS has made its mark as a business that combines technical innovation with commercial returns so attention to detail will be of equal importance.
OMS is firmly established as a commercially successful specialist in the measurement and inspection of pipe ends that are used in the construction of subsea pipelines. This reputation and foundation of major clients will provide the springboard for the growth expectations set for the next 3 years.

At the outset, there will be a period of detailed product training followed by involvement in a strategic training and development plan.
