The opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to lead Northamptonshire County Cricket Club through the next phase of its development both on and off the field. Having just celebrated its centenary the club represents the core of professional county cricket and working with a progressive Board the new Chief Executive will build on this legacy and lead all aspects of club development.
The strategy can be summarised as follows:
- Develop the team and achieve success on the field at all
- Maintain financial stability and identify and maximise new income streams.
The refurbishment and development of the ground has also created more off-field revenue opportunities which have proved successful in generating income and, more importantly, profit.

This young team now needs genuine leadership to provide them with a vision of what can be achieved, a set of measurable and achievable objectives and the support and drive to achieve them. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable success in the following areas:
- Leadership – the delivery of performance through good management practices
- Commercial acumen – profitable growth of new and existing revenue streams
- Innovation – success in challenging convention and the introduction of new ideas.
These objectives will have been achieved in a competitive commercial environment that need not include professional sport. A passionate interest in sport is required however as is the need to provide an entertaining and welcoming environment for members, sponsors, the media and representatives of the wider game.
The successful applicant can expect high levels of authority and expectation from an early stage. The Board will provide the necessary levels of support to achieve the club’s objectives as well as encouragement at a personal level to ensure that the Chief Executive’s own vision and personal development goals are achieved.
