The Opportunity

The organisation’s Chief Executive has reviewed the needs of the establishment as they move to a new strategy. This has led to a re-organisation of the Senior Leadership Team which will see it grow in capacity and capability, including the introduction of a new role of Director of People and Organisational Development. Having been through a significant internal (as well as external) transformation journey, this fascinating organisation now needs to capitalise on and consolidate the excellent work achieved on their people-related activities, with the aspiration of building a strong employer brand and becoming an employer of choice.

This is an exciting time to join the Institution as they plan on enhancing the profession, collaborating to build strategic partnerships, and influencing and strengthening their impact globally. The organisation has started some key pieces of work to evaluate their transformation journey to date and to look at the gaps they need to fill to meet future aspirations. This includes evaluation of their EDI position, organisational development activity as well as feedback from colleagues and leaders in the organisation.

The Director of People and Organisational Development will lead and champion the Institute’s new People strategy that will show how colleagues are front and central in the achievement of their next strategy. It will put plans in place for creating their employer brand and employee value proposition, ensuring these cover the full employee lifecyle. This will take investment and organisational development which the Director of People will be heavily involved with.

Design, implement and evaluate onboarding, performance management, career pathways, capability frameworks and learning and development activities that drive organisational development to support their EVP.
  • Employee Retention and Transitioning – Clearly define the organisation’s corporate culture and values which support its organisational and strategic people plans. Lead their pay and reward strategy that underpins the corporate culture and supports retention of talent. Lead succession planning, internal mobility and offboarding/exit activities so that the full employee lifecycle is articulated clearly, implemented and evaluated.
  • Lead the organisation’s people service by supporting leaders to identify and successfully implement change and helping colleagues to understand and embrace change/continuous improvement. Lead and provide full support on resolving Employee Relations issues and guide the Institute’s management approach. Support the Chief Executive, senior leadership team and internal comms lead to identify and implement effective internal communications to engage and inspire colleagues to achieve strategic outcomes.

Experience / Background

  • An HR Director level professional with a track record of delivering alignment of people strategy to organisational strategy.
  • You will be able to demonstrate the tangible difference you have brought to moving organisations from a purely HR compliance position to a mature, people first culture, and where assurance to meet legal obligations is a given.
