Current Roles

Director
Salary: A starting salary of up to £80,000 p.a.

OUR CLIENT

Our client is a leading provider of specialist services and equipment to an enviable client base of civils, construction and utilities companies, nationally.

The business is proud of its continuous, double digit, year on year growth. Partly because of this growth and partly as early succession planning, our client wishes to appoint the strongest possible Director to join the leadership team.

This is a varied role – a mix of client relationship management and internal multi-function leadership. Spanning a range of responsibilities, the role could be described as one that combines many aspects synonymous with a traditional Commercial Director and an Operations Director.

The Commercial responsibilities very much focussing on managing and strengthening existing client relationships. The Company’s larger clients typically work from lists of preferred suppliers. So, maintaining good relationships with clients to be the “first port of call” for a particular service, is a key aspect of the Director’s role. Plus, of course, developing new commercial relationships.

Similarly, when difficulties arise in the delivery of work, perhaps mechanical failure on a piece of crucial capital equipment for example, managing the relationship at a Director level and working to provide a solution in a timely manner will be key to retaining business. This means being contactable outside of traditional working hours to address time sensitive situations.

Travel across the county to meet with clients and visit working sites will be fairly significant and at the discretion of the Director.

From an Operations standpoint, the new Director will hold oversight (but not direct management) of many of the internal business departments and functions – anything from health and safety on site to the workshop will form a part of the role, although to a lesser extent. The Company continues to enjoy significant financial success and annual growth so there are no fundamental operational changes needed. The primary goal is to continue this growth and to protect profit margin.

The nature of the work and the continuous growth of the business mean that the new Director will need to make big, decisive decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The new Director will be a proven leader and people manager, most likely at a medium-sized business (minimum £25m t/o). They will bring a broader multi-function skillset – rather than just sales, for example. Most likely the new Director will currently be in a senior Operations, or perhaps broad Commercial role, serving a similar client base – civil engineering, construction and utilities.

The new Director will have proven experience of success in a fast-paced business environment.

Our client seeks to appoint the best possible Director. A starting salary of up to £80,000 p.a. has been suggested but they are able to pay more for an exceptional candidate.

Head office is in the North West, near Warrington. Travel across the country to other sites and clients will be required. Expect to be away from home 2 nights per week.

OPPORTUNITY

This is an excellent professional opportunity for an ambitious senior manager to step up to the position of Director at a genuine market leading company. Our client enjoys an excellent reputation for service and quality from its enviable client base of blue-chip construction and utilities clients.

The new Director will thrive working as part of a close-knit leadership team which maintains a strong “family” working culture and the highest ethical standards. The new Director can expect the professional and financial rewards for success with the potential for further opportunities in the future.
