Job Overview:

Establish and maintain comprehensive systems to ensure product safety and quality standards that meet Regulatory and Customer Requirements, delivering a function that engages the business focussed on both quality and continuous improvement.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Quality and CI functions at the Coventry and Mississauga sites, including overall accountability for:
  • Quality/Business Management System
  • Supplier Quality Assurance
  • CI team delivery
  • Continual review of the operation of the Quality functions across the business to identify and promote best practice, and deliver continuous improvements to the methods and systems employed to increase product safety, reliability and reduce the costs of poor quality
  • Create, promote, and sustain a product safety and quality culture across all areas of the business
  • Lead the site improvement programmes to improve cost efficiencies and service delivery
  • Ensure that the BMS Processes and associated documents are developed and maintained to deliver efficient operating processes
  • Prepare governance level quality reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information and trends
  • Meet with vendors, customers, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems
  • With the Head of HR, ensure the effectiveness of the Competence Management across the sites
  • Ensure that a suitable programme of internal and external product and process audits are scheduled, completed, and closed out
  • Provide strategic input to the Senior Management Team, for functional areas of responsibility.
  • Provide leadership for the Quality Team, providing direction and supervision, to ensure first-class performance, and assist in the personal development of the Quality Team personnel

Desired skills & experience:

  • Degree qualified in either operations; engineering or management – engineering preferred, or suitable relevant experience in a related role
  • CQI – highly desirable
  • Proven experience; delivering against KPIs, with appreciation for what excellent looks like
  • Minimum of 10 years’ quality experience ideally within a hardware/software design and manufacturing business – low-cost/ high-volume products (experience in sensor-based products is desirable, but not essential)
  • Proven skills in applying change management and driving costs down and improving quality business wide, leading high performing teams with examples of where you have improved the customer experience whilst adding value to the revenue increase
  • Proven track record in Customer Management, associated with quality related issues
  • Extensive experience of leading a quality function, including QMS, in a highly regulated environment
  • Significant background in the day-to-day running of a quality function within a high-quality, high-volume manufacturing business
  • Detailed understanding and experience of what it takes to ensure high quality product is produced by manufacturing and their outsource partners in a highly regulated environment
  • Good experience of mentoring and developing QA teams, having successfully led teams in the past
  • A passion for continuous improvement and familiarity with the use of relevant techniques such as CQA, root-cause analysis, CAPA, Lean, Six Sigma, 8D etc

The role will primarily be based in Coventry, although international travel may be required from time to time, to visit Group Offices, and Partner Manufacturing Sites.
