You: 

  • Location: Birmingham only
  • Level of experience: Extensive (Mid Management, potentially looking after a small team looking for a step up in responsibility)
  • Background: Large Corporate IT Consultancies
  • If you have any public sector experience it will only be from an outsourcing perspective while working for one of the large corporates 
  • Ability to interface well on an executive level
  • Ability to articulate experience and problem solving while under pressure
  • Your views on encouraging a supportive work environment to enable development not replacement of the team 
  • Strong influencing skills and negotiation

The Role:

Leadership:

  • Ability to lead the team by example in terms of best practice behaviours
  • Operate within the company values and new way of operating since the restructure and ensure the team does likewise
  • Ensure the team works on the important projects which are business critical and not what they find the most interesting
  • Be a strong leader in terms of enforcing order and process while balancing people management

Strategy:

  • Focus predominantly on the bigger picture elements of IT infrastructure
  • Proactively engage with peers in other departments to ensure exchange of information and collaboration
  • To make sure the IT functions profile rises to the level that business development meetings will not be started without someone from the team ‘in the room’
  • Ability to juggle and improve both the existing work and manage and lead the new projects
  • Must give attention to all businesses lines and not focus on specific areas to the detriment of the others
  • The ability to plan and implement longer term strategic plans than the rest of the business operates within and explain why this is necessary to the other leaders within the company to gain their buy-in and backing
  • Skill to establish the company as the best in class when it comes to cost
