Our Client is an established, profitable Main Contractor, with HQ in Ireland, who are opening an office in Manchester to develop UK business opportunities. Offering a range of services, including Design & Build and project management to commercial, industrial, education, health and infrastructure markets (public and private sectors), they are a tight-knit, supportive and very professional business

They seek an experienced and well connected construction professional to head the new office, identify and win new contracts and develop a team to drive the business

Key Responsibilities are

- Provide input into the business plan and develop/deliver a Marketing plan to raise the business' profile in the North West

- Work closely with the H/O Business Manager and Board to establish the office infrastructure

- Business development to identify, through network connections (Architects, Surveyors, Developers, lawyers etc) and local market knowledge, Bid & Tender activities across the construction spectrum worth becoming involved in

- Undertake contract negotiations to secure Main Contractor status for the business

- Activate and develop sub-contractor relationships locally from known contacts

- Plan and execute a strategy to build a team of 'professional' staff, as justified by business performance Appropriate candidates will possess and demonstrate the following knowledge, experience and character traits:

- A degree or other professional qualification from within the Construction disciplines - civils, structures, surveying, QS etc and evidence of technical competence through having used ones qualifications practically

- A substantial record of hands-on and strategic involvement in the construction sector, within the Greater Manchester / Merseyside region, and holding a senior management post in the area

- A progressive track record including business development, winning projects on a competitive basis, team management, and negotiation of contracts

- Experience in a number of sectors, ideally, from among commercial, industrial, leisure, health, residential and infrastructure and in both public and private funded developments

- A well developed network of contacts amongst the 'Professions' and sub-contractors in all disciplines
