Our client is an exciting listed business that in partnership with governments is unlocking the vast mineral resource potential of the African continent. The business has a market capitalization of circa £17m and is in the process of raising additional funds as it continues to grow and develop its market presence in Africa. The growth opportunity for this business is tremendous.

The Role

The company has the important requirement to recruit a CEO to oversee the running of the operations. The CEO will be involved with the following:

- Building a cohesive team as he/she guides business activity through project milestones on a consistent track to deliver on the high-level objectives - note the company's exploration projects are at an early stage.

- Bridging the gap between the technical and commercial sides of the business.

- Regular travel to Africa.

- Working closely with other senior level colleagues and dealing with responsibility for a wide range of issues such as:

- The coordination and supervision of Board meetings
- NOMAD liaison
- Investor Relations
- Presentations and Exhibitions
- Relationships with the Stock Exchange
- Public Relations


Experience Requirements

Suitable candidates will possess the following experiences, skills and knowledge:

- Public company directorship experience, comfortable with London-based HQ functions, with experience, for example, of capital fund raising.

- A background in the exploration geology/mine project development marketplace.

- A good working knowledge of French is essential for this position.

- Experience of team leadership and project management in sub-Saharan Africa.

- A track record of successfully implementing exploration and resource development projects in sub Saharan Africa.

- The individual will be comfortable in navigating around the challenging cultural, infrastructural and logistical aspects of working in Africa - they will be a strong negotiator.

- Experience of marketing and roadshows would be an additional benefit.
