Success for Novo with leading Nutriceuticals Company
In 2010 Novo were retained by Herbalife UK to recruit a Director, Product Regulatory Compliance EMEA and a Product Innovations Director. Both roles had proved to be very challenging for the business because of the specificity of the skills required in this very niche market. The international search focused on pharmaceutical, health food and nutriceutical companies across Europe. Both roles were successfully filled and Novo has gone on to help them recruit a Regulatory Compliance Manager in 2011 through its contingency arm novoélan.
"Herbalife worked with Novo Executive Search on the recruitment of two senior positions in 2010. The first of these was a head of product regulatory compliance for EMEA and the second was a new product innovation role. We knew at the outset that neither position would be easy to fill as the experience we were looking for was quite specific and we also had to find just the right personality fit for our fast growing company. Novo approached each search thoroughly and with a great deal of energy. They were good at providing us with regular updates on their progress and extremely patient when we revised our original brief on the innovations position.
"Both searches were concluded successfully and we now have two great new additions to the EMEA senior management team."

Success for Novo with Behavioural Marketing Company
Novo were recently retained to recruit Directors for Catalina Marketing. The successful search resulted in a number of business unit directors and account directors being identified and one individual is now UK MD. Novo’s relationship with Catalina Marketing continues to grow and develop in 2011.
“Following a highly successful trial with Sainsburys, Catalina was asked to roll out a multi-million pound loyalty solution and Novo was retained to find key personnel to manage this contract and relationship. They followed a structured and detailed approach which led the presentation of a number of high calibre shortlists from which a Business Unit Director and Account Director were selected. At this point, there were several delays in agreeing the final details of the contract and with Novo’s help we were able to retain the interest of the selected candidates until we were able to bring them on board. Throughout, all communication was clear, their work transparent and our expectations were managed well at each stage through to final engagement.
“Novo has been retained again to find additional people and of the original candidates, one has gone on to become the UK MD while the other is being considered for an international business development role.
“Through Novo’s commitment and hard work, we have been able to retain and build the key account whilst strengthening the management team in Europe. The recruitment process exceeded our expectations and has been a huge success. We did not hesitate to use Novo’s services in the future.”

Getting true value from an interim manager

In a challenging commercial environment, organizations often look to appoint interim managers as opposed to permanent employees. Appointing and managing an interim manager certainly throws up different challenges and benefits to employing a permanent member of staff.
Interim managers are often appointed to mange change. Maybe it’s someone to manage a challenging project or someone neutral to sort out a messy situation. A good interim will come in, make a speedy diagnosis, take appropriate actions, without being drawn into office politics, then leave.
There can be significant additional value when using an interim manager, such as the ability to take on responsibility for a project or a specific role, bringing an external perspective and invariably an alternative and better way of doing things. An interim also acts as coach and mentor and is able to transfer their knowledge in an effective manner.

Team building at 30 feet?
Staff at Novo Executive Search and Selection ventured over to the Brecon Beacons in April to test their organisation, communication and team building skills. Skills were tested as soon as staff arrived at the activity centre as the groups were sent off around an 8 mile orienteering course, working as teams collecting markers and solving a word puzzle. Following the three hour orienteering across wild park land, the groups ventured up into the skies on the activity centres high rope challenges, including Jacob’s ladder, high level all aboard and zip wire. These challenges tested staff in both team and individual situations. The day was a huge success and was an excellent way to introduce new staff to the team at Novo.
