Employment law changes coming into effect 1 October 2009
Several employment law changes come into force on 1 October 2009.
These include:
- an increase in the National Minimum Wage (NMW) to £5.80 per hour.
- a ban on employers using tips to top up the NMW of staff
- an increase to the maximum weekly amount for calculating unfair dismissal and redundancy payments, from £350 to £380.
